Retroject Projects is a design duo interested in adding a generative history to spaces devoid of character. Focusing in the American Northeast, our practice incorporates historical references that add a patina to ground our homes in their pastoral setting. Our approach is informed by an interest in parafictional narratives applied to the built environment. We are inspired by the design aesthetics of the cotswolds, early american primitivism, and rural swedish design. 

 

The name Retroject stems from this interest in retroactively injecting a history into a home. We also consider the word 'projects' as both a planned undertaking - noun, and an outward extension into the future - verb.
